Too wiped to think of a good update. Doubles really kill me. Tomorrow!
Day 04: Some people.
Breakfast: (over a couple of hours) English muffin (olive oil butter, strawberry jam), 2 strips of bacon, few home potatoes, small breakfast burrito, strawberries, diet Pepsi
Lunch: can of tuna, chips and salsa, water
Exercise: 2 miles running, 0.75 miles walking, 20 bench dips
Dinner: Dirty rice with mushrooms, potato salad, green beans, sun chips, water
I was going to write something about how beautiful the sunset was today…or how huge and eerily orange the moon was earlier tonight…or how it was nice to get out of the apartment on such a beautiful day and just drive around town…but then my mom told me about that little boy in Wylie and my heart just sank. Take a look:
First of all, what in the world would possess a woman to remove a feeding tube from her blind, deaf, and dumb grandchild and leave him in the middle of the freaking woods? If it was really such a burden to take care of him, go drop him off at a hospital or social services. Anything would be better than camouflaged in the bushes, exposed to the elements for days. What could have been going through her mind? His mind?
I can’t find the words to describe how I feel about this. It’s just…terrible.
Day 03: Glee!
Breakfast: Couple spoonfuls of oatmeal, strawberries and pineapple, English muffin (butter and strawberry jam), couple strips of bacon, a few home fries, diet pepsi
Lunch: 2 slices of thin crust pizza
Dinner: Cobb salad, a couple of fries, apple juice, chocolate cake, milk
So…day 3 and I’m already skipping a workout. Well, not really…technically I’m exercising 5 days a week…not necessarily 5 days in a row. Doubles just kill me. I was at work for literally 12 hours today starting at 5am. I think my nap replaced my workout. My legs need to recover. I’m so out of shape. Working around my schedule, though, exercise looks good tomorrow, Friday and Saturday.
Finally caught up with Glee, so I’m on the new season. Caution: quasi-Spoiler Alert if you haven’t seen the latest episode.
Though I loved Christina Aguilera’s “Beautiful” toward the end of the episode, I’m not sure what I think of this week’s hour as a whole. I think I had a hard time watching it because everybody seems to be in a gigantic slump. All the songs were slower and about loneliness, and all of the characters sort of did a switcheroo as far as their typical role: Rachel’s in a sable place with her man and isn’t causing any drama, Quinn’s the voice of reason and wisdom, Puck hardly had any wise-cracks (save mouthing “are you gay…?” during Kurt’s solo in the practice room), Sue’s getting all flustered, and Mr. Shu is all sad and lonely and sad. It kind of threw me for a loop.
Oh, and click the picture above for a Glee Medley Flash Mob in Italy I stumbled upon while looking for pictures. Haha =)
Also…hell yeah, Mavs.
Day 02: Photoshop Blues
Brunch: 2 eggs over easy, 2 sandwich slices of ham, 2 honey whole wheat toasts (butter and strawberry preserves), glass of milk
Snax: Couple of handfuls of Honey Nut Cheerios
Exercise: 50 chest presses (5 lb. weights), 25 pec flys (5 lb. weights), 1.25 miles running (dirt path), 5/8 mile walking
Dinner: 3 Fresco tacos, 0.5 chicken quesadilla, water
For those of you who know me, you know I can spend hours and hours playing around in Photoshop. When I first started, I cranked that stuff out like it was nobody’s business, but these days, I’m having a bit of trouble.
I usually do our Christmas cards, and around Christmastime, there is no lack of projects. I suppose they’ve turned out alright albeit sometimes hilariously ridiculous. My aunt actually asked me where we found a gingerbread house in the middle of a mountain range and when we all had time to go visit a place like this:
I’ve tried my hand at announcements with my own from Tulane, and though graduation season is almost here, I’ve really only worked on my bro’s. My baby brother is graduating from high school this year, and it is an honor and privilege to make his graduation announcement. I’m really digging my bro’s because of its simplicity and color scheme, and though it’s not a super formal picture of him, I think it shows who he is as a person…a little goofy, yet still charming. I mean, he did ask a girl to the prom by writing her a song and singing it at the talent show. She said yes, by the way.
I’m still in the infant stage when it comes to fonts, though. I can never figure out which would be good for a particular project I’m doing; there are just so many of them. Typography in general is something that eludes me. I’m nowhere near as awesome at it as Jams.
Design amateur-ity aside, I really enjoy Photoshopping, and I’ve sort of run out of things to work on. Anyone want an invitation, flier, or album cover made? Or how about just a touch-up on that favorite picture of yours? I can get rid of that spinach between your teeth that nobody bothered to tell you about. Haha =)
Day 01: The Journey to Beach Bod Begins
Breakfast: Oatmeal (granola and brown sugar), 3 slices of bacon, English muffin (butter and strawberry jam), a few potato things, diet Pepsi
Lunch: 16 oz. of Italian Wedding soup and corn, tortilla chips and salsa
Exercise: 0.5 miles walking (3mph), 2 miles running (5-6mph), 0.25 miles cool down, 100 crunches/reverse crunches
Dinner: Can of white Albacore tuna, tortilla chips, Cadbury Creme Egg, glass of milk
I kept a food and exercise log in my old Livejournal, and for about 327 days, I sat down every night and reflected on my meal choices (good and bad) and exercise routines (or lack thereof). I found it to be extremely helpful when pondering why in the world I have such a hard time losing weight. There’s no one to blame but myself for my ridiculous sweet tooth and almost painful need for something crunchy with every meal (i.e. tortilla chips, Sun Chips, kettle chips…ask anybody), but I’ve seemed to maintain the same weight +/- 7 pounds these past couple of years with nary a hardcore workout routine. “Hardcore” is relative, I suppose, but anything short of marathon training or pushing your body so hard you have to add protein shakes and supplements in order to prevent your body from eating itself isn’t truly “hardcore” to me.
I think I am the typical quasi-exercising, semi-health-conscious type…portion controlling rather than substance controlling, exercising through the high but never until I’m completely empty. I don’t think I’ve ever had a concrete goal as far as pounds or inches to lose; I just want to feel good in a bikini, to not muffin top over my pants, and to keep these love handles the size of a Big Wheel’s and not like those crazy ape hangers.

Working at a restaurant and recently finding the Holy Grail of lactose-free milk-like beverages has significantly upped my caloric intake as of late, and with a trip to the Philippines on the horizon (65 days and counting!), it’s time to hunker down and get my workout on. The plan is to exercise at least 5 days a week with a minimum of 30 minutes of cardio + abs + strength training. I think I’ll continue to record my food and exercise just to get an idea of how well (or poorly haha) I’m doing for these next couple of months. And hopefully it’ll keep me from going an entire month without updating. Wish me luck =)
